PROJECT
STATUS
Crossing the Threshold is partway through Production. After successful funding rounds for Research & Development and Pre and Early-Production we are working to close the gap on Production.
Documentary filmmaking is a very often a multi-year endeavour, comprising multiple shoots across multiple locations. When you work with fact instead of fiction, you can’t rely solely on pre-planning, you have to be there when the story emerges, and refine your thesis as you gather more material.
The SPECIFICS
We have approximately 65% of the film shot, with a number of key sequences and interviews still remaining. This includes interviews with 2 of our 7 Veteran Participants, and interviews with 2 historians - Veterans themselves - specialising on the military history of the American West. We will also capture key sequences of our Veteran Participants’ lives and the rugged backdrop of Wyoming through the changing seasons.
Budget Breakdown
70% covers crew wages & fees.
13% covers music composition, archival licencing and voice-over.
11% covers insurance, legal & admin.
6% covers shooting costs (travel, accommodation, meals, permits).
As a production of Twin River Studios, Crossing the Threshold has a commitment to paying fair and competitive rates to crew on this project so that local talent has a better chance of sustaining a local creative career.
Your

A tax deductible donation to our project can help us reach our goal of completing production. Contributions of any size will help our cause, but for an indication of what you might support:
$25
Can fund 10mins
of shooting with a cinematographer.
$30
Could provide a day of meals to a crew member.
$50
Could insure a week of filming.
Our donations are managed by our partners at the International Documentary Association, a registered 501 (c) (3).
